What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-08-24 08:00 UTC.

The story from the US close continues in one corner and reverses in another. Crypto regulation is still the marquee — the White House says a CLARITY Act deal is at a "binary stage" and the SEC proposed its first major crypto rule — while Bitcoin holds near $77.4K after a 23% surge. Gold kept climbing to $4,646.52, above the $4,604.58 level flagged last session. Oil is the reversal: it parked under $86.90 last session, and now sits at $84.74, down about 1% in eight hours with H1 RSI soft at 34.4.

The London calendar is bare — nothing scheduled between 08:00 and 12:00 UTC — so the tape is doing the heavy lifting. Equity futures are flat as the US and Canada appear headed for a trade war.

With no catalyst, watch the squeezes. Cable is squeezed between 1.36329 and 1.36563; a breakout is on the table, though the RSI-divergence warning says don't chase. Bitcoin hugs resistance at 77,543.8 — 0.2 ATR overhead — and gold is intact but overbought (H4 RSI 76.9), with yesterday's divergence warning still running. The engine hasn't reheated: BTC's H4 RSI eased to 67.6, ether's to 67.1. Quiet calendar, loud charts.
