What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-08-28 12:00 UTC.

The story continues rather than reverses: crypto regulation still owns the headlines — the Bank of England’s new stablecoin mandate, the OCC/FDIC tightening on crypto firms — and gold keeps its glow after White House revaluation signals. Today, though, the US session brings its own marquee names: Fed Chairman Warsh speaks at Jackson Hole, and traders are watching for a policy signal.

The calendar fills the window. Jackson Hole is the main stage — high-impact — with the preliminary benchmark payrolls revision right behind it. Also scheduled: revised UoM consumer sentiment and inflation expectations, Chicago PMI, Canadian GDP, plus low-tier words from FOMC’s Hammack and the MPC’s Mann.

The gauge stays mostly neutral-to-leaning. USD/JPY carries the clearest tilt — H4 and H1 up, RSI firm — sitting above 159.578 support. EUR/USD and gold are squeezed between close levels (1.16445/1.16506 and 4583.47/4602.65), breakout on the table; oil mirrors that between 82.20 and 82.77 with a divergence caution. BTC leans bullish between 79511.0 and 79951.1. With Warsh and the payrolls revision in the room, the tape may finally pick a side — keep levels close and your coffee closer.
