SESSION PREP · ASIA

What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-08-30 21:02 UTC.

Asia Session Prep — 21:00–08:00 UTC

Crypto regulation still owns the front page — Sberbank wants BTC and ETH as collateral, and the SEC's custody rewrite reached the White House — but the gold story reversed: Warsh's hawkish Jackson Hole signal was met by a firmer dollar, and the metal fell 3.7% in eight hours.

The calendar is light and low-tier for Asia: Japanese industrial production and retail sales, Australian profits and private credit, NZ business confidence, China's twin PMIs, then German prelim CPI as the only medium-risk print. London is on bank holiday and the weekend creeps in, so liquidity may be thin.

The gauge reads mixed. EUR and GBP are both oversold (RSI in the twenties), but the tilts differ: GBP's H4 and H1 point down together, so it leans bearish; EUR's H1 is mixed, so it stays neutral. USD/JPY is the running bull, RSI near 71 with a divergence caution; support sits at 159.417. Gold is neutral after its slide, with wide room between 4401.50 and 4616.48. Oil is a coin flip squeezed between 82.48 and 83.12 — breakout on the table, direction unknown. Crypto keeps the bullish lean: BTC perched on 78659, ETH firm between 2480 and 2512. Keep your levels close — and, as ever, your coffee closer.
