What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-08-31 08:01 UTC.

Risk tone is cautious again — Asian shares and US futures slipped after a US strike on Iranian rocket launchers sent oil higher, and Warsh's hawkish Jackson Hole comments keep rate-hike odds elevated.

The window itself is bare: nothing is scheduled between 08:00 and 12:00 UTC, and London's bank holiday means liquidity will be thin. With no data to steer, the charts are the whole show.

Last session's story mostly continues — cautious equities, firm oil, bearish EUR and GBP — with a couple of small twists. Oil is the pivot, squeezed between 83.72 and 84.54; the Iran headlines give it a reason to test the top. Gold has crept back above 4442.54 after sliding all of last session; if that flipped level holds, there's room to 4587.98. EUR and GBP sit just above their nearest supports (1.15793, 1.35412) — a break extends the downtrend, a hold gives the bears pause. Crypto reversed its dip: BTC is pressing 78,282.8, ETH has reclaimed 2435.1. USDJPY's bull is intact but tiring — still above 159.35, momentum soft.
