What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-09-02 21:07 UTC.

Wall Street finished the session firmer as oil and bond yields held relatively steady, though Fed-hike chatter and fresh US-Iran headlines kept the mood guarded.

The Asia docket is light: Kiwi trade data opens, followed by Australia's goods trade balance and a pair of RBA speakers, a China services-PMI gauge and Japan's 30-year auction, with Swiss CPI — the only medium-tagged print — and a run of final euro-area services PMIs closing things out. The RBA speakers may be the liveliest thing on the calendar.

Expect the script to bend further, not flip. Oil's fade has steadied — back at 89.15, bullish-leaning but stretched, with no tested ceiling above and H4 RSI above 71. Gold defended 4328.15 and climbed to 4387.72; 4361.02 now flips to support, with 4418.54 overhead. Yen weakness has reversed for now: USDJPY faded to 158.729, H1 RSI near 29, pressing the flipped support at 158.60865, while cable stays bearish-leaning under 1.34994. Bitcoin is neutral on the gauge yet pressing 77482.7; ether, bearish-leaning, is squeezed between 2382.8 and 2407.7. On a data-thin day, expect consolidation — geopolitics keeps veto power.
