What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-09-03 21:01 UTC.

US hours closed on the same note they opened with: yields and Fed-hike chatter keeping sentiment brittle, Middle East headlines keeping the risk premium alive, and the yen’s slide extending. USDJPY has continued lower to roughly 155.81 — H4 RSI near 19 and no tested floor underneath — so the previous session’s reversal has continued, not reversed. The Dutch central bank’s 86-ton gold repositioning from New York to London, citing geopolitical unrest, supplied the geopolitical flourish.

The agenda is light: Japanese household spending and German factory orders, both low-tier, are the only scheduled prints in this window. That leaves the technical barometer to carry the conversation. Oil is pressing right up against 89.76 resistance with an H4 uptrend intact — the cleanest line on the board. Crypto has been the momentum leader: bitcoin is up about 3.7% over the last eight hours and into overbought territory, while ether is boxed between 2,485 and 2,513.

As Asia unfolds, watch whether dollar-yen bounces or extends — stretched moves can snap as easily as they drift. Japan’s top currency diplomat has already flagged high alert, so even a quiet calendar can get noisy.
