SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-03 08:03 UTC.

Wall Street closed firmer and Asia followed, with oil easing, but the tone stays guarded as the bond rout deepens and Fed-hike chatter persists. The yen’s reversal out of Asia is continuing, not fading: USDJPY sits at 157.141 after an outlier 1.11% slide — a move the gauge flags as an outlier.

The calendar is a snooze button, all low-tagged: final services PMIs for the euro area and the UK, euro-area PPI, Spanish and French 10-year auctions, and US Challenger job cuts. With bond desks on edge, the euro-area auctions are the most interesting prints — a live read on how much yield long-end paper needs to clear right now.

The technical barometer keeps its tilt: EURUSD and GBPUSD lean bearish on down H4s, parked on flipped floors at 1.16045 and 1.35040; USDJPY is bearish-leaning but deeply oversold (H1 RSI near 16) after its slide. Gold has extended its climb (up 1.02% over eight hours) yet reads neutral — D1 up, H4 down — between 4417.06 and 4440.32. Oil stays bullish-leaning under 89.76, with H4 RSI at 65.1, the warmest pulse on the board. Bitcoin leans bullish above 77506.9; ether stays bearish below 2403.5.
