SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-08 08:00 UTC.

London Session Prep — 08:00–12:00 UTC

Backdrop. The risk-off tone that opened Asia is holding: equities are lower while oil presses toward fresh highs after reports of a Saudi refinery hit and heightened US–Iran tensions. Gold continues to nurse losses near 4,393, squeezed between flipped support at 4,384.95 and resistance at 4,400.56. Bitcoin has softened to the 78,400 area, with the CLARITY Act September 15 Senate test still simmering in the background.

On the calendar. A quiet window — RBA Deputy Governor Hauser speaks and the NFIB Small Business Index is the only US print of note. Neither should move the needle, so technicals and headline flow lead the tape.

What to watch. Oil is the cleanest signal — bullish structure intact across H1/H4/D1, though RSI at 71 flashes overbought and a divergence warning has appeared; a pullback toward 90.47 support would be healthy, not bearish. USD/JPY remains the standout bear: stretched with H4 RSI at 25.3 and no tested ceiling above — watch for a snap-back given the yen's extended run. Gold and the crypto majors sit in tight ranges with breakouts on the table; let price decide the squeezes, and keep one eye on the headlines.
