SESSION PREP · ASIA

What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-09-10 21:00 UTC.

Asia Session Prep — 21:00–08:00 UTC

The day that just ended kept the same drumbeat: oil above $100 a barrel and dragging Wall Street lower, Treasury yields surging after a poor 30-year auction, and an ECB that hiked with hawkish guidance — with markets now pricing a near 50-50 chance of another hike in October. That's continuity, not reversal: the risk-off tone and oil's bid both carried through.

This session's own calendar is thin on the surface — BusinessNZ Manufacturing, Japan's BSI and PPI — but the UK does the heavy lifting, with GDP m/m the High-tier print alongside construction output, trade balance, services, and production data. Sterling is already leaning bearish clear (H1 RSI 34.0, EMA20 below EMA50), so those numbers land on a market that's coiled and pointed down.

The gauge for the session: oil is bullish clear but stretched — H4 RSI 80.4, H1 79.2, and price sitting with no tested ceiling above and its floor way down at 89.59. Gold is bearish clear and pinned right on 4,315.29 support, H1 RSI 30.1 — a floor that's either going to hold or give. EUR/USD and GBP/USD are both leaning bearish into their own data, USD/JPY is neutral but low in its range with 12.6 ATR of room overhead, and crypto is mixed with Bitcoin soft. Let the UK data and the oil tape do the talking.
