SESSION PREP · US

What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-11 12:00 UTC.

US Session Prep — 12:00–21:00 UTC

The London handoff is unchanged: oil's still north of $100 — though the US benchmark has dipped back below it — Treasury yields are surging again after Bessent's beefed-up buyback failed to calm anyone, and equities remain on the back foot. Add record diesel above $6 and the "everything costs more" theme writes itself. Continuity, not reversal.

Today's the day the calendar earns its keep. US CPI — headline and core, m/m and y/y — lands right in this window, followed by Lagarde, then Prelim UoM sentiment and inflation expectations. That's a lot of inflation input into a market already fixated on it.

The gauge: oil is bullish strong across D1/H4/H1 with H4 RSI 75.0 — stretched, no tested ceiling above, floor way down at 89.62. Gold is bearish clear, squeezed between 4,310.04 and 4,327.74, so a breakout is live but directionless. EUR/USD leans bearish near 1.16060, GBP/USD sits evenly balanced between 1.34868 and 1.35020, and USD/JPY is neutral but low in its range with room overhead. Let CPI do the talking.
