The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-18 12:00 UTC.
US Session Prep — 12:00–21:00 UTC
Tokyo rang the bell and London politely raised an eyebrow: the Bank of Japan lifted rates to their highest since 1995, the yen sank anyway (USD/JPY +0.50% over eight hours, H4 RSI 79.5), and the CLARITY Act's 49–50 death has handed crypto rulemaking to the SEC and CFTC. Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury is having its worst run in over a century — and investors keep buying it regardless. Make of that what you will.
The US calendar is a gentle one: Capacity Utilization, Industrial Production, the CB Leading Index (all Low), plus FOMC members Bowman and Schmid speaking (Low). No marquee print — the session belongs to positioning, and to whatever the BOJ press conference keeps whispering.
On the barometer, the stretched shorts London flagged are still stretched: EUR/USD H4 RSI 27.3 and GBP/USD 26.2, both sitting low in their ranges with no tested ceiling above — the slide has continued rather than reversed, so watch whether the floor finally bites. USD/JPY is overbought and pressed right against 157.84029 resistance (0.0 ATR away) — a ceiling, not a runway. Gold is squeezed between 4364.56 and 4385.02, a breakout on the table, direction unknown. Bitcoin (H1 RSI 70.6) and Ethereum (73.0) remain overbought and boxed — same question, no answer yet.
