The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-24 08:00 UTC.
Good morning. The dollar bid held its ground overnight — USD/JPY still carries the BULLISH LEANING tag at 157.482, EUR/USD (1.14691) and GBP/USD (1.33731) remain NEUTRAL — while the wires keep chewing the same bone: the ECB and EU central banks pushing to rewrite MiCA's stablecoin reserve rules, Tether out of the EU licence picture, and Binance's Greek bid heading for rejection. Bitcoin's above $80K on the largest daily ETP inflow since November 2024, so the crypto crowd has something to smile about.
London gets the SNB Press Conference at High — the franc's real event of the day — with the ECB Economic Bulletin and German ifo Business Climate rounding out the EUR tier. FOMC's Williams and the MPC's Dhingra both speak, plus CBI Realized Sales for the pound. Nothing here screams; the franc is where the pulse is.
What to watch: USD/JPY's 157.28018 support is still the line — hold it and the lean has something to stand on, lose it and the H4 down structure gets a vote. Note the H1 Bollinger squeeze, still the tightest in 120 bars: energy is building, and a squeeze usually resolves, not fizzles. Gold stays BEARISH CLEAR, with 4333.73 beneath and 4359.91 overhead. And with the tilt gauge having flipped repeatedly on USD/JPY and gold in 24 hours, treat any single label change as noise, not a turn.
