The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-09-29 21:00 UTC.
Good evening. The day just gone was all about yields grinding higher and tech taking the strain — junk bonds are heading for their worst month since 2022, gold is holding support despite the bond selloff, and oil has stabilized after its Hormuz headline, though the gauge has flipped to BEARISH LEANING at 87.98, down 1.74% over the past eight hours.
Asia has the diary to itself. Australia's CPI lands in three flavours — headline m/m and y/y plus the Trimmed Mean — the high-tier items of the window, alongside Building Approvals and Private Sector Credit. China brings its Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing PMIs plus the RatingDog pair, Japan chips in Industrial Production and Retail Sales, and New Zealand offers ANZ Business Confidence. Later, Europe trickles in with German Prelim CPI and Retail Sales.
On the gauge, EUR/USD is BEARISH LEANING at 1.13392, H4 RSI at 29.9 and price stretched below its 1.13664 flipped resistance. Gold sits NEUTRAL at 4182.55, up 0.76% over eight hours and pressed against the top of its range with 5.5 ATR of room overhead. USD/JPY is NEUTRAL at 157.305, still coiling inside its squeeze. Crypto is the mixed bag: Ethereum BULLISH CLEAR at 2690.86, though it's given back 1.61% over eight hours, while Bitcoin is back to NEUTRAL at 83576.9. And GBP/USD flipped to BEARISH LEANING at 1.32317 — with ten label changes in 24 hours, treat it as noise, not a turn.
Watch the Aussie CPI print above all — it's the one item here with the reach to move the whole risk complex, and the AUD itself is soft, with RSI at 44.
