The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-29 08:00 UTC.
Good morning. The overnight story is a familiar one: bond yields grinding higher and Wall Street's tech darlings feeling the squeeze, while oil keeps one eye on the Strait of Hormuz. Australia's central bank lifted its Cash Rate to 4.6% and signalled more hikes may follow — that's the RBA's business, but it sets the tone for the aussie as London comes in.
London's own calendar is light on drama but not empty. Sterling gets the M4 Money Supply, Mortgage Approvals and Net Lending numbers, plus a 10-year gilt auction; the euro side has an Italian 10-year auction and a couple of talking heads — German Buba President Nagel and ECB President Lagarde, the latter the only medium-tier item on the card.
On the gauge, USD/JPY still leans BULLISH at 157.482, holding above 157.28018, with the H1 Bollinger squeeze still the tightest in 120 bars — energy building. Gold sits BEARISH CLEAR at 4342.88, wedged between 4333.73 and 4359.91. Oil remains the live wire: NEUTRAL on the card, but price at 92.53 is pressed against 92.57 with just 0.1 ATR of room. With the tilt gauge having flipped repeatedly on USD/JPY and gold in the last 24 hours, treat any single label change as noise, not a turn.
