The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-29 12:00 UTC.
Good afternoon. The overnight story hasn't changed much: bond yields grinding relentlessly higher, Wall Street wondering how much more tech it can take, and oil doing its familiar dance around the Strait of Hormuz — though crude has since given back some ground, down 2.5% over the past eight hours and now BEARISH LEANING on the gauge at 90.30.
The US calendar is the main event this window. We get JOLTS Job Openings and CB Consumer Confidence — the two medium-tier items — plus HPI and the S&P/CS Composite-20 house-price prints, and Canadian GDP. Then the talking heads arrive en masse: a parade of FOMC speakers (Bowman, Barr, Goolsbee, Musalem, Williams, Waller) and two MPC members, Mann and Taylor. The API's weekly bulletin rounds things off.
On the gauge, EUR/USD is BEARISH CLEAR at 1.13485, with H4 RSI at 30.6 and price stretched below its 1.13592 flipped resistance. Gold sits NEUTRAL at 4156.55 after a 0.54% bounce, wedged between 4144.81 support and a distant 4241 ceiling. USD/JPY flipped from BULLISH to BEARISH LEANING at 157.302, still coiling in that H1 squeeze. And crypto is the bright spot: Ethereum BULLISH CLEAR at 2722.65, up 2.24%, with Bitcoin +1.42%. Note that GBP/USD flipped BEARISH to NEUTRAL at 11:45 — with two changes in 24 hours, treat it as noise, not a turn.
