SESSION PREP · ASIA

What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-10-01 21:31 UTC.

Good evening. The day that just ended gave us more of the same: bond markets selling off again and shaking equities worldwide, while AI optimism kept Wall Street propped up — and the dollar's bid carried EUR/USD down to 1.13078, right where London left it.

Asia's diary is light on data but not on voices. Tokyo Core CPI (medium) and the Japanese unemployment rate land early, alongside Spain's unemployment change, with FOMC's Logan speaking (low) and a Chinese bank holiday thinning out the CNY desks. Thin liquidity plus a holiday is a fine recipe for exaggerated moves — mind the whipsaw.

On the gauge: EUR/USD stays the stretched one — bearish clear across D1/H1, H4 RSI at 29.3, and no tested floor anywhere below, so a snapback wouldn't shock. GBP/USD is pinned under 1.32535 with support at 1.32264, evenly balanced either side. USD/JPY is squeezed between 157.82489 and 158.08783 — a breakout is on the table, direction unknown. Gold leans bearish below 4190.23, oil is boxed between 91.20 and 90.04, and Bitcoin leans bullish under 84309.3.
