The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-10-02 08:00 UTC.
Good morning. The story hasn't changed much overnight: bond markets are selling off again and shaking equities worldwide, while AI optimism keeps Wall Street propped up — and the dollar's bid has EUR/USD sitting at 1.13078, right where London left it.
London's diary is light on quantity but not on weight: the eurozone CPI Flash Estimate lands mid-session (Medium), with the Core reading alongside it and Italian Retail Sales (Low) padding out the morning. One print, one currency bloc — expect the euro crosses to do most of the reacting.
On the gauge: EUR/USD is the stretched one — bearish clear across D1/H1, H4 RSI at 29.3 (oversold, falling), and no tested floor anywhere below, so a snapback wouldn't shock. GBP/USD stays pinned under 1.32535 with support at 1.32264, though it's chopped through five label changes in 24 hours — don't read one as a turn. USD/JPY is squeezed between 157.82489 and 158.08783, breakout on the table, direction unknown. Gold leans bearish below 4190.23, oil is boxed between 91.20 and 90.04, and Bitcoin leans bullish under 84309.3. If today continues or reverses that story, we'll say so.
