US Session's Technical Barometer

What this reads: the bigger picture for this session — daily, 4-hour and 1-hour trends with 4-hour and 1-hour momentum, read when this briefing was written. It changes slowly and is not a forecast. Market Pulse reads only the last hour or so, so the two can disagree: a short bounce inside a downtrend can read bullish there and bearish here.

What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-10-05 12:00 UTC.

Good morning. The bond-market selloff and the steady drumbeat of crypto rulemaking — stablecoin reserve fights, trust charters, new EU and US proposals — remain the backdrop as New York takes the baton. On the equity side, an AI "reality check" call and Musk's chip-venture chatter are keeping the tape's mood lively.

This window's calendar is US-flavoured and thin: the final Services PMI and the ISM Services PMI, one Low-tier and one Medium. Nothing High-tier, so the prints are more likely to colour the mood than set it.

Watch the gauges — though today they're quiet. Every symbol on the board is showing no live read: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, Gold, Oil, Bitcoin and Ethereum all have their feeds paused, last read 10:44 UTC (Bitcoin and Ethereum with no data from the feed at all). So there's no fresh tilt to lean on this session; the PMIs will have to do the talking. If today continues or reverses yesterday's story, we'll say so explicitly once the feeds are back.
