US Session's Technical Barometer

What this reads: the bigger picture for this session — daily, 4-hour and 1-hour trends with 4-hour and 1-hour momentum, read when this briefing was written. It changes slowly and is not a forecast. Market Pulse reads only the last hour or so, so the two can disagree: a short bounce inside a downtrend can read bullish there and bearish here.

What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-10-06 12:12 UTC.

Good morning. The backdrop keeps its two familiar strands: global shares mostly advancing after Wall Street's gains and oil prices falling, while Washington stays busy redrawing the crypto map — FinCEN scrapping its wallet and mixer proposals, the CFTC opening a rulemaking for leveraged retail crypto trading, and the CLARITY Act's failure leaving the framework in flux. France's sovereign-debt story and Britain's "thin ice" warning supply the mood music.

Nothing here is built to move the needle hard, so expect the data to colour the mood rather than set it.

On the cards, EUR/USD is bearish leaning with D1 and H4 down, GBP/USD neutral and near the top of its recent range, USD/JPY bullish leaning with all three timeframes mixed, and gold bearish leaning across D1, H4 and H1. Oil is bearish leaning and sitting right at its nearest level above; Bitcoin is neutral with open ground overhead; Ethereum is bullish leaning, pinned between two close levels. Watch whether the trade prints or the Fed speakers start feeding the bond and crypto narratives.
