Asia Session's Technical Barometer

What this reads: the bigger picture for this session — daily, 4-hour and 1-hour trends with 4-hour and 1-hour momentum, read when this briefing was written. It changes slowly and is not a forecast. Market Pulse reads only the last hour or so, so the two can disagree: a short bounce inside a downtrend can read bullish there and bearish here.

What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-10-13 21:02 UTC.

Good evening. The day that just ended was a chip-led one: South Korea's Kospi sank more than 7% on semiconductor selling, oil rose as Trump's Russian diesel comments roiled energy markets, and bonds stayed bid — with crypto rules still moving, from Thailand's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF approval to South Korea's exchange ban hitting KuCoin, MEXC and 25 others.

Asia's calendar is all low-tier: New Zealand visitor arrivals, Australia's MI leading index, Japan's M2, and China's CPI, PPI and trade balance prints. The medium-tier items sit outside Asia — ECB President Lagarde, BOE Gov Bailey and BOC Gov Macklem all speak, alongside MPC members Breeden and Pill.

On the gauge, EUR/USD is bearish leaning with D1 and H4 down and H1 mixed, sitting closer to the level above; USD/JPY is bullish leaning, D1 and H1 up with H4 mixed, between two close levels. Gold reads bearish clear across all three timeframes, while oil is bullish leaning but mixed, and Bitcoin and Ethereum both lean bearish between nearby levels. Sterling is neutral. Watch whether the thin data lets those close levels do the talking.
