US Session's Technical Barometer

What this reads: the bigger picture for this session — daily, 4-hour and 1-hour trends with 4-hour and 1-hour momentum, read when this briefing was written. It changes slowly and is not a forecast. Market Pulse reads only the last hour or so, so the two can disagree: a short bounce inside a downtrend can read bullish there and bearish here.

What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-10-13 12:02 UTC.

Good afternoon. The backdrop is a chip-led slide in Asian equities — South Korea's Kospi down more than 7% — with oil higher after Trump's Russian diesel comments and bonds bid. Crypto regulation keeps rolling: Thailand approved Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, while South Korea's exchange ban hit KuCoin, MEXC and 25 other platforms.

The US calendar is quiet and low-tier: ADP's weekly employment change, existing home sales, the CB leading index for Australia, IMF meetings running in the background, and FOMC members Barkin and Collins speaking.

On the gauge, EUR/USD reads bearish clear — D1 and H4 down against an H1 up — and it sits much closer to support at 1.11864 than resistance at 1.12015. USD/JPY is bullish leaning, with D1 and H4 up against an H1 down, and it's likewise nearer support at 158.10718 than resistance at 158.32824. Gold is neutral, D1 down with H4 and H1 mixed, closer to support at 4181.70. Oil is bullish leaning but mixed across timeframes, sitting near resistance at 93.08. Bitcoin is bearish leaning and right at support at 83228.0; Ethereum is bearish leaning, wedged between two close levels. Sterling is neutral. Watch whether the thin calendar lets those nearby levels do the talking.
