London Session's Technical Barometer

What this reads: the bigger picture for this session — daily, 4-hour and 1-hour trends with 4-hour and 1-hour momentum, read when this briefing was written. It changes slowly and is not a forecast. Market Pulse reads only the last hour or so, so the two can disagree: a short bounce inside a downtrend can read bullish there and bearish here.

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-10-14 08:02 UTC.

Good morning, London. The chip-led selloff rolls on — South Korea's Kospi sank more than 7% on semiconductor worries, world stocks dipped as bonds stayed bid, and crypto regulation keeps rewriting itself, from Thailand's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF approval to Korea's exchange ban. Singapore's central bank unexpectedly held policy steady, so Asia has plenty to chew on before Europe wakes up.

This window is light on tier-one data but carries a couple of speakers worth noting: ECB President Lagarde and the EU Economic Summit both sit at medium tier, while FOMC's Bowman, China's M2 and new loans, and a German 30-year auction round out the low-tier slate. Nothing here is a headline number — more a chance for tone to do the work.

On the gauge: EUR/USD is bearish leaning with D1 and H4 down and H1 mixed, price closer to the level above. Sterling leans bullish with H1 up while D1 and H4 sit mixed, also nearer the level above. USD/JPY reads neutral, D1 up against H4 down. Gold leans bearish with H4 and H1 soft, pinned between two close levels. Oil leans bullish with H4 and H1 up, closer to the level below. Bitcoin reads neutral, sitting right at its nearest level above. Ethereum is bearish clear across D1 and H4. Watch whether Lagarde's remarks give the euro any reason to test those nearby levels.
