FX, gold and oil are closed — crypto trades on. Session preps resume Sunday 21:00 UTC. Updated 2026-09-13 12:00 UTC.
Grab your coffee — it's been a week of two stories pulling in opposite directions.
On one side, bonds had a rough ride. Gold "weathered a violent rates move ahead of US CPI," as StoneX put it, and FOREX.com noted that "gold and silver fell together as rising bond yields and a rebounding U.S. dollar pressured metals, with copper taking the heaviest hit." Kitco framed it as gold's "another dramatic week," where early dollar-weakness momentum reversed.
On the other side, the CPI print itself flipped the script. Newsquawk flagged that "action seen after US CPI has reversed, with XAU above pre-data levels, USD under pressure while fixed income and equity futures have entirely reversed the move and are extending to the upside." That's the market doing its classic knee-jerk-then-think dance.
Meanwhile, oil got a jolt from geopolitics: The New York Times reported "Saudis Shut Down Crucial Pipeline After Drone Attack From Iraq." And in crypto, regulation was the theme — from a Senate CLARITY Act vote to Thailand's stablecoin transfer cap and Canada's green light on tokenized deposits.
This is our read, straight from the barometer — the web commentary just fills in the color.
Gold is leaning bearish on our higher-timeframe read — D1 down, H4 down, H1 up — a clear bear tilt at 27/100. Price is squeezed between support at 4345.41 and resistance at 4364.33, so a breakout is on the table, direction unknown. That lines up with the metal's rough patch. Kitco had Wall Street "holding out hope for gold despite fall to $4,445/oz," while investingLive noted futures "remain bullish above the 4370-4382 support cluster" with eyes on 4432. Our read says the higher timeframes are still heavy.
Oil is our clear bull — D1 up, H4 up, H1 down, a 72/100 bull tilt. Support sits way down at 90.83, resistance at 100.76. With the pipeline headlines, that upward structure has a story behind it.
EUR/USD is bearish clear (20/100): D1 mixed, H4 down, H1 down, with H4 RSI at 40.3. Support 1.15956, resistance 1.16070. GBP/USD is genuinely neutral (47/100) — squeezed between 1.35169 and 1.35309, breakout on the table. USD/JPY is neutral too (46/100), balanced between 153.27 and 153.78.
Crypto never closes, so this one's for your weekend scroll.
It's been a pressure week. TradingView noted "Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP remained under pressure on Friday as the broader cryptocurrency market extended its weekly decline," and 24/7 Wall St. observed XRP "bleeding harder than Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB this week." CoinDesk's take: "The crypto market enters the final stretch of the month in a perilous position."
Our barometer agrees it's soft: Bitcoin is bearish-leaning (38/100), D1/H4/H1 all mixed, H4 RSI 36.6, support 76650.8, resistance 77092.5. Ethereum is the brighter spot — bullish-leaning (58/100), D1 up, squeezed between 2472.8 and 2485.5.
The week ahead matters: Capital.com highlights "ETF inflows ahead of Fed," and Coinpedia says it's "a decisive week." Regulation is the live wire — the CLARITY Act Senate vote Monday, per Tech Times, is billed as crypto holders' "last chance for 2026 regulation."
All eyes on Wednesday. LiteFinance calls the Fed meeting "the key event of the coming week (September 14–20, 2026)," and Kiplinger notes the calendar "features the September Fed meeting and several housing market updates."
FOREX.com framed the tension nicely: "A hawkish Fed and 10-Year Notes on the verge of a push above 5%, yet stocks have so far shrugged off that fear. But can it continue?" CNBC added that "the dollar edged higher as traders exercised caution ahead of... the long-awaited return of U.S. economic data."
- Mon 14 Sep: Canadian CPI (m/m, Median, Trimmed) — a busy CAD morning.
- Tue 15 Sep: UK Claimant Count and Average Earnings.
- Wed 16 Sep: The big one — UK CPI, then US Retail Sales, then the FOMC rate decision, projections, statement and press conference. NZD GDP lands late.
- Thu–Fri: Markets digest the Fed.
Keep an eye on whether gold holds that 4345–4364 squeeze, whether oil's bullish structure survives the pipeline headlines, and how crypto reacts to Monday's Senate vote and Wednesday's Fed. The bond market's 5% flirtation is the thread running through all of it.
You've got this — one week at a time, one chart at a time. Have a restful weekend, and we'll see you Monday. ☕
