FX, gold and oil are closed — crypto trades on. Session preps resume Sunday 21:00 UTC. Updated 2026-10-04 12:00 UTC.
Grab your coffee — it's been a week where the old rules felt a little too familiar. One headline this week put it bluntly: "Falling wages, soaring energy prices and inflation: It's beginning to look a lot like the 1970s." That's the mood music. And in the bond market, the refrain was equally loud — "As Treasury yields touch generational highs, investors brace for the market fallout." When yields run like that, the dollar usually flexes, and that's exactly the shape of our technical read this week.
Here's our own structural read — the D1/H4/H1 barometer — and it's telling a pretty consistent story.
The dollar is in charge. EUR/USD scores just 29/100 — a clear bearish tilt. The daily is pointing down, and the H4 RSI sits at a soft 33.4. Price is stretched, with the nearest level below far away and nothing meaningful above to turn it — that's a market leaning over. GBP/USD is a milder version: 39/100, bearish leaning, with the daily down and price sitting closer to its support at 1.32258 than its resistance at 1.32532.
The yen is the mirror image. USD/JPY reads 68/100 — bullish leaning, daily up, and price perched right at 157.83300 with a full ATR of room below. It's coiled right at the level above, so it's one to watch rather than chase.
Gold had a rough one. Our read is 25/100 — bearish clear, daily and H1 both down, H4 RSI at 39.5. Price is clinging near resistance at 4143.10 rather than support at 4116.26. Honest truth: rising yields and a firm dollar are a headwind for the metal, and the chart agrees.
Oil is the calm one — genuinely neutral at 57/100. Daily down, H4 up, H1 mixed. Support at 91.19 is a long way off (2.4 ATR) versus resistance at 94.58 (1.1 ATR), so it's drifting near the upper edge of its range. No strong view here — and that's fine.
Crypto is the one market that never sleeps, and it's a genuinely split picture right now.
Bitcoin is neutral (56/100) — daily down, H1 up, and price sitting just 0.1 ATR under resistance at 85217.8, near the top of its recent range. The H1 RSI at 69.0 says momentum is warm; the daily says the bigger trend is still working it out.
Ethereum is the standout — bullish clear at 74/100, daily and H1 both up, H1 RSI at 62.4, and it's holding well above support at 2693.4. If you want the constructive chart of the two, it's ETH.
The regulatory tape was busy: community bankers sued the OCC over crypto firms' national trust charters (ICBA, per PYMNTS), Circle pushed the EU to swap its 30% stablecoin reserve rule for a liquidity test, and South Korea moved to bring tokenized stocks and bonds under the same rules as the real thing. Plenty to chew on for the weekend reader.
No external commentary was fetched for this edition, so we'll lean on our own read plus the calendar: the market's collective eye is on Wednesday's FOMC Meeting Minutes and Tuesday's BOJ Gov Ueda speech — with the dollar this firm and the yen this coiled, those two events matter.
- Mon: USD ISM Services PMI
- Tue: JPY BOJ Gov Ueda Speaks (High) · CAD Ivey PMI
- Wed: USD FOMC Meeting Minutes (High)
- Thu: USD Unemployment Claims
- Fri: CAD Employment Change & Unemployment Rate (High) · USD Prelim UoM Consumer Sentiment & Inflation Expectations
Keep an eye on whether EUR/USD's stretched bearish lean finally finds a level to lean on, whether USD/JPY can clear that 157.83300 shelf, and whether ETH's bullish structure holds while BTC decides which way it wants to break. Warm wishes for a restful weekend — you've earned it.
