Anthropic’s potential $2 trillion IPO comes with the following fine print
Anthropic’s reported revenue growth of more than 10-fold in 2025 has fuelled talk of an eventual listing that could value the company at as much as $2 trillion. The figure is striking, but the accompanying detail matters just as much: the cost of training and serving its AI models is climbing alongside that growth.
That tension sits at the heart of how investors should read any AI headline tied to a valuation. Rapid revenue expansion shows demand for the company’s models is real, but it does not, on its own, show that the business converts that demand into profit. Training runs and the computing power needed to answer user queries are heavy, ongoing expenses, and they scale with usage rather than staying fixed.
For markets, the takeaway is that AI valuations increasingly rest on a simple question: can revenue growth outpace the cost of delivering it? Watch for disclosure on margins, compute spending and customer concentration as any listing process advances. A $2 trillion figure is a headline; the fine print is what would test it.
