Arbitrum joins Paxos-led Global Dollar Network as USDG lands on Ethereum L2 - CoinDesk
Arbitrum has joined the Global Dollar Network, the consortium led by Paxos, as the USDG stablecoin becomes available on the Ethereum Layer 2 network. The move expands USDG's reach beyond its initial deployment and places it within one of the largest scaling ecosystems in the Ethereum economy.
For market participants, the development highlights the ongoing competition among stablecoin issuers to secure distribution across multiple chains. Stablecoins are core infrastructure for trading, lending, and payments in crypto markets, so where they are available can influence liquidity and user activity on a given network. Arbitrum's inclusion in the Paxos-led network also signals continued interest in consortium-style models, in which multiple firms share in the economics of a stablecoin rather than a single issuer capturing them.
What to watch: whether USDG sees meaningful adoption on Arbitrum, how other stablecoins respond, and whether additional networks join the Global Dollar Network. The practical test is usage — liquidity, integrations, and real transaction demand — rather than the announcement itself.
