Qivalis receives EMI authorization from Dutch central bank for euro stablecoin - TradingView

Qivalis has secured an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) authorization from De Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch central bank. This regulatory approval allows the firm to issue a euro-denominated stablecoin under the European Union's electronic money framework, placing it under direct prudential supervision rather than operating in a grey area.
The development matters because euro stablecoins have lagged their dollar counterparts in market size, and regulatory clarity has been a key hurdle. An EMI licence signals that issuers can meet requirements around reserve safeguarding, redemption rights and governance—standards that institutional users and payment providers typically scrutinise before integrating a stablecoin. It also reflects the broader push under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regime to bring stablecoin issuance into a supervised perimeter.
What to watch: whether Qivalis discloses details on reserve composition and custody, how quickly the token gains exchange listings or payment partnerships, and whether other euro stablecoin applicants follow with their own authorisations. For markets, a licensed euro token could gradually support on-chain euro liquidity, though adoption will depend on distribution and trust rather than approval alone.
